It's a sleazy slice of post punk with short sharp drum bangs , jerky guitar rythms , raw basslines and nonchalantly clever vocals.
Written about not understanding someone verbally and how they are the problem not you.
Having to communicate via other means, you can almost feel the sexual tension coming through the speakers we communicate with our bodily parts, we can do it in the back of your car
Polka Party started off life as Telescopes a year and a half ago.
Thomas O (Vox, Guitar), Ash Tapson (Vox, Bass) and Stu Lusted. '(Drums)' decided that after being mistaken for middle aged rockers (The Telescopes) they would change their name. Alas Polka Party was born in the crappy commuter belt, the Medway Towns. Sounding nothing like the usual acoustic drab that seems to be a product of their hometown.
Last year saw the Kentish 3-piece play with the likes of Art Brut, Black Kids and Ipso Facto as well as playing main stages at Lounge On The Farm and ZOO8. They released their debut single 'Japanese Haircut' to rave reviews and gained fans at Radio 1, Xfm,??6Music and Channel 4.
They also packed out Club NME Koko, no mean feat for a band that had been together for less than a year.
Polka Party don't necessarily have influences but take the best parts from the songs they love'(Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Young Knives, Ladytron and MC5),'add some youthful charm and voila! A recipe for catchy, rebellious songs that you can't help but dance to.
